What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a hair follicle replication process that helps people suffering from different forms of hair loss. At Think Scalp we utilise our specially designed pigments and unique application technique to replicate hair follicles on your scalp.

What is the cost?

At Think Scalp the cost usually runs between $2000 - $5000, depending on the amount of hair loss and the density you want to achieve. It’s very easy to get a quote by emailing us at scalp@thinkaesthetics.com

How long does the treatment take?

Think Scalp recommends 3-4 sessions with 2-3 hours per session. At THink Scalp your session will never be longer than 3 hours. This is for the comfort of the client and to enable the technician to maintain their concentration to achieve the best possible result.

Will the pigment used fade or change colour?

Think Scalps pigments do not contain blues, greens or iron oxide. Our pigments have been tested and proven for scalp micropigmentation, they will stay true to colour and hold their shape. Over the years you may notice some slight fading but seek confidence in the fact that our pigments will only fade to a lighter colour of what was originally used.

Does it matter what colour my hair is?

THink Scalp has access to a range of 20 different colours including 13 in the black to grey range. We have pigment to match any hair follicle.

What is the width measurement of the simulated hair follicles?

Think Scalp have multiple needles available to achieve the desired hair follicle size. We can guarantee that we have taken our time in perfecting the tools of our trade as a result every client can walk away knowing that this was something specially crafted to provide the very best look possible!

What should I expect in a consultation?

Think Scalp Consultations are free and booked based on availability and location of the client. For those who are not in close proximity, a phone consultation may be provided. Phone consultations are great to have your questions answered by our knowledgeable team members while in the comfort of your own home. Clients may also submit images for quotes via email or test message (by arrangement). Email us at scalp@thinkaesthetics.com or call us on (07) 33 000 465.

How soon after a consult can the procedure be done?

Treatment appointments are based on the availability of technicians at each location. We strive to accommodate our clients and can usually schedule procedures within 2 weeks of your initial consultation.

Do I need to prepare my skin?

Skin Preparation is essential! We suggest a pre care package of daily cleansing and exfoliation and preparation for the scalp at least 1 week to 1 month prior to your treatment. It is vital that your skin is in the best condition possible to get the full benefits of the treatment. Call to order pre packs on (07) 33 000 465.

Do I need to shave my head before the procedure?

If you are having the shaved head technique the best results are achieved by shaving to a 0-1, a week before and again 2 days before your scalp treatment. Do not shave the day of the treatment. It is not essential to shave if you are creating the hair density technique.

What machine equipment is used?

THink Scalp uses the highest quality specialised digital machines and needles as well as pigments made specifically for the scalp. We do not use rotary machines which tend to tear the skin. Simulating follicles requires precision as well as an artistic approach to achieve a completely natural look. All our technicians are artists and take great pride in their work.

What is the pain level?

The pain level most clients tell us is 2 out of 10. However, most people find the procedure relaxing and we have had clients fall asleep during the treatment.

What is the estimated price range of this treatment?

We have a range of prices that start at $1500 for a scar cover and up to $6000 for an individual who has alopecia with no hair at all. Most of our clients have a horseshoe pattern and need a hairline, top, sides and blending. These jobs usually range between $2000 to $5000 and are based on specific needs of the client.

Do you reuse needles?

At Think Saclp never reuse our needles, they are all single use needles. Every client received a new needle at every sitting.

How will I look immediately after the procedure?

There will be redness for 2-10 hours after the treatment, it depends usually on your skin type. The THink Scalp pigments initial colour will appear darker than the final result, which can take up to 1-2 weeks.

How long does the scalp take to fully heal after the procedure?

We provide a post care protocols that should be followed for the first week and after that all we ask is that you keep your scalp protected with a high SPF sunscreen product.

How long do I have to wait to shave with a razor?

We recommend waiting at least a week this is because your scalp is in the healing process and you would not want to interfere with your body’s natural healing process.

What can make the colour fade?

Time and sun exposure can lighten the pigment we recommend the use of a good quality sunscreen for your scalp daily. A touch up is also available to sharpen up the hairline, add more density or if you experience further hair loss.

Do you have any additional photos or previous clients available for a real life look?

We keep before and after photos of all our clients at all times, since this is a personal service most of our clients choose to have their images kept private. Feel free to check our social media pages to view up-to-date photos and information, access a gallery of treatment before and after photos here.

How long do I need between each SMP Treatment?

With the treatment sessions you will need a minimum of 5-7 days in-between each session for healing. This is so the skin can naturally heal itself and pigment to settle. Most of our clients have 1-week healing between the 1st and 2nd treatments and then a longer period before the 3rd treatment if required.
